I received Getting Stitches in the mail yesterday and by the time I had read the third poem I realized I was both being taken back in time to places in my life I hadn't revisited since I was in high school and being brought to new places I had never been before, by the words of his poetry. Rudy Francisco poems in this collection to me are a mixture of longing, satisfaction, happiness, fear and hope . Like climbing up a hill there is ups and downs but you never quit moving and you never regret making it to the top. My favorite poems are the ones I feel I was taken to new places, which were titled "Like Every Other Man" and "My Honest Poem" those I have already reread more than twice. I would definitely recommend Getting Stitches to anyone who loves poetry or is thinking of beginning to read poetry because it is easily understood and honest in the delivery, you not only read it, you feel it happening as you read it. So basically I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading in general. I believe with my whole heart you won't be disappointed from the first page to the last page.Product details

This book tugs at my heart strings and every word is written with perfection. My only qualm is that I wish it was longer.
It was a smaller collection that I expected. But as usual Rudy's poems were amazing. I definitely prefer hearing them live (or via Youtube) but having a printed version of the poems is great. Most of the poems in this collection can be found on youtube so you can read along for the full heartwrenching Rudy experience.
I watched him on Facebook. I would not have considered myself a lover of poetry, but Rudy is an exceptional artist of the spoken word. Ordered all of his published works. They're booklets though & not books. However while it may seem a little high in price for booklets, & would say we will definitely be hearing more from this dude in the future & these booklets may be worth much more than they cost now. He is very gifted.
Best little book of poetry I've ever read. A friend of mine who does performance poetry is the one who recommended I get this book and I'm glad I did. The topics each poem tackles isn't necessarily pretty, but that's one of the reasons I like this so much. The poems convey raw, gritty emotion, as well as, gives a reader a feel for what it must feel like for the poet to look at himself through his own eyes. Much respect to the author of Getting Stitches, it's not something I'll likely ever forget reading.
